Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I was hammering, trimming and recoating the inner front fender firewall to make room for 35's, and now my cab has a slight/new vibration through the floor boards and seat. A cab shimmy/shake that progresses with speed but isn't consistent (comes and goes). And when there is more weight in the cab (passenger), the shimmy seems to go away or isnÆt as bad.
I trimmed the fender, and evenly hammered in the seam and that body gusset/wing all the way to the body mount.(like ErikB did) It looks good, isn't hacked or ugly looking and gave me way more clearance.
The truck is aligned, tires are balanced and I have inspected suspension and drive train for this vibe/shimmy.
I am thinking the body mount bushings shifted or ripped when I was doing the inner fender firewall hammering, which is causing the body to shimmy/shake??
Is this possible? I wouldnÆt think so, unless the bushings were already brittle and old, which they may be. I can't see the bushings inside there mounts to inspect them. All the body mount hardware is still tight and secure.
Any thoughts. I suppose it wouldn't heart to replace all the cab mount bushings anyway.

Special order polyurethane bushings from EnergySuspension.com and costs about $100 shipped.

Looking up the parts on ToyoDIY.com, it would seem that the stock rubber parts would cost well over $100. Cross referencing the part numbers to ToyotaPartSales.com and it would cost close to $125 shipped.

You might wanna look over some of yer other rubber parts like yer sway bar bushings and end links. I figure if the body bushings are bad...probably the other ones are close to being gone as well. I replaced mine with the red polyurethane ones from AutoZone. 1 1/8" (28.5mm) sway bar bushings (part number 9.5164R) and these come with their own greaseable bracket. You won't be reusing the factory bracket. End links were the toughest to git off but the Energy Suspension part went on really easy. End links (pair) 2 3/8" -- 9.8125R. Total cost was around $45 to do the front sway bar.

LCEngineering sells a full kit (every bushing on the truck) for $145. Cab, suspension, everything. Probably a better buy.

Ahh you are correct. ALl the other bushings are the same as other yota's, dunno if the cab bushings are any different than the 89-95 pickup... i'd think they are the same. 85 for cab bushings isnt bad tho... but all the other bushings are interchangeable (control arms, springs, sway bars)

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I already replaced the sway bar end link bushings w/ poly. I replaced the idler arm w/ the insane T/C idler arm two weeks ago, and Toyota dealer replaced my relay rod 2-3 months ago.
I have no play in the front end (ball joints, tie rods, bearings and so on) I may replace the tie rods just because they donÆt cost much and the ones on there have no grease in them w/ ripped boots.
I already replaced the center drive line bearing, no vibe there.
My next step is replacing the shocks to BilsteinÆs.
Last will be to replace the upper and lower control arm bushings if I still have the vibe, even though they donÆt look bad and no play.
How can you guys see/tell if the body mount bushings are bad?? I cant really see the bushing itself, just the mount around it.
The truck handles/drives good. Every thing feels and looks tight other than the slight shimmy/shake in the floor board/cab and seat, that recently started and comes and goes on my 25 min commute to and from work.(40-75mph)

Take a prybar and push where the bushing meets the frame mount, mine has a half inch of play.

Checked body mounts w/ prybar.
Rears had no play.
Fronts have 1/4" play, but not free play. The play(movement) feels like I am just compressing and flexing the rubber mount.

Are you sure the bolt is tight and hasn't pulled through?

Getting the Wheeling Fever

I am thinking I will go ahead and get new body mount bushings because I a thinking of doing a 1" body lift.
I am guessing the body lift goes on top of the stock bushings, or does a body lift replace the body mount bushings?
I have never been a fan of body lifts, but 1" on a T100 isn't noticeable and will give me a bit more clearance, while keeping my center of gravity. So If I am going to spend the $ and time replacing the body mount bushings, I figure I might as well through in a 1" body lift while I am @ it. As long as the body lift doesn't replace the bushings. ??
Anyone have pics of a T100 w/ a 1" body lift??
I have read the 1" body lift info on 4crawler.com
Thanks for all the help
