A long time ago I found an Army recovery manual online. It showed a Jeep with those on it. It also showed a PTO driven capstan on the front like on a ship.

Looked like it could be made very easily...I'd love to have that setup. And one of those inflatable (by exhaust) air bags that can lift all wheels at once...you're pretty set with that setup. smile

I saw several of those on the ESSEX during my last overseas tour. The USMC uses them as utility trucks. olivedrab.com has some info...
