As long as highschool kids are buying Skylines like they were going out of style JDM vehicles are going to get a bad rap.
People don't see the economy, and they don't really care. They just remember that #$%^ing kid that just cut them off on the Deerfoot. People get cut off 10 times a day by left hand drive vehicles, but they remember the weird right hand drive vehicle that was missing a front bumper, with a garbage can for a muffler and had an inter cooler the size of a house.

The other problem is that they talk about how they have an issue because of safety, yet they provided no stats relating directly to safety, just stats relating to the number of JDM vehicles being imported. Are they forgetting England where you can purchase a new left hand drive car in a right hand drive country (e.g. some smart cars)?

Now that I've been driving right hand drive for almost 6 months I have a complete understanding of my vehicle dimensions, and find it just as easy to pass and turn left as in a lefty. I know that JDM vehicles are safe. That said, I'm probably contributing to people wanting to ban us. I drive slow (as in the speedlimit, I do this to conserve fuel), have a big ugly steel bumper and huge tires. I let my truck idle to warm up and when it's cold my parking area gets filled with diesel smoke.
