yes it was a small shop in nc and i had a long term relationship with the owner. $400 was for labor and the head was within specs so it did not require any time in the machine shop.

i was going to do it myself but like you i just couldn't find a large enough block of time to commit to it. i'm not a mechanic but i agree with rueben above that a lot of people could do it themselves.

the longer you wait the worse it will get.
