I got my new issue yesterday and it has a review of the 4th Gen. Pretty good read.

I haven't seen the R&T review, but there is one in the latest issue of MT. From the early pics, I was not keen on the looks, but the latest shots in the mag (and from Corey) looked pretty cool.

The large fender flares will have to grow on me, but those engine choices would be nice...

Body Damage is Cool
I guess I'd take the new 4Runner over that disgusting vehicular rendition of a 50's era Kelvinator - the Honda Element. Did Honda and Pontiac draw up an agreement whereby Honda leases Pontiac's famed Ugly Design Stick? Worked for Pontiac with the Aztek - why not Honda.
Sorry to get off topic, but I just read through my magazine and really like the maturity of the Viper, but that Element is ridiculous. Well not as ridiculous as the ad for the new Kia Sorento - whick shows a mountain bike in the back of a bone-white-interior Sorento.... Gotta see it to understand.

Yes, I read that C&D writeup this morning, and it put my heart aflutter! I'm a diehard Toyota lover, and even though I admire the 4Runners, my particular needs dictate my use of a pickup truck. The Tacoma has been the truck of choice for me because of its performance potential (w/TRD parts availability). My first Tacoma w/5VZ FE and manual trans was such a champ that I bought a second Tacoma last year with that same driveline.

When I read the C&D article this morning and found that the 3.7 V-6 which was rumored to be the upcoming replacement for the 5VZ FE is actually going to displace 4 liters and dish out 245 hp, I was mighty dadburned impressed. The fact that it's going to be cast in aluminum is even more impressive.

I already find myself lusting after a new S-Runner with a supercharged aluminum V-6. I regret only that the new engine design will necessitate a new supercharger design instead of accepting the one I've got on my 5VZ.
