I bought an alt. for my Raider and for my Montero from Advance Auto. I never had a problem with them. The Raider is dead now but my Montero has had that alt. in it for the last 5-6 or more years.

I bought a starter from Autozone. They are crap. I have replaced it 4-6 times. I have even had them bring out all they had in stock (3) so I can pick the best looking one. Most of them the gear on the end is worn down. I had one I brought home and installed before I noticed the gear was worn. All it did was grind on my fly wheel, it would not catch. I brought it back and the first thing the do is put it on the tester. It tests goood so they cant replace it. I talked to the manager and told him the problem and he gave me another one.
