Good news is that a bore ( with new pistons ) won't be necessary - just a good re-hone

You might want a second opinion. The bores might LOOK ok, but if you run a dial indicator up and down, I'll bet you find the bores egg-shaped, with more wear in the middle-to-bottom third of the bore..... which will likely call for an over-bore.

From what I can see in the pictures, the crankshaft journals should polish ok.

FE is one of the sage's (among quite a few) on this forum. I'm sure he has some good insight for you when you're ready to do that. I'd contact him when it came time to do that if it were me. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Is there anything with regards to those intakes that I should observe other than making sure the surfaces are clean & flat, new gaskets and correct torques ?

I don't know what Eddy will 'splain, but the lower intake has a habit of warping up on the ends to form a bowed surface. A good machinist can mill it flat.

Also, over time, coolant can etch the lower intake around the coolant passages and create leaks - milling usually resolves that as well.

Before installing the MLS gaskets between the lower intake and heads, I put 2 coats of Permatex Copper Spray-A-Gasket on the head flanges, intake flanges and both sides of the gaskets.
