There was a TSB that stated the crankshaft should not be ground undersize due to the undercut fillet radius. One machinist told me he saw no reason why it couldn't be reground and the fillet restored. OTOH, from what I have heard (but don't know for certain), the hardening isn't so deep on these crankshafts.

All things considered, I probably wouldn't regrind the crankshaft - unless I had it re-treated.

BUT - if the machinist has done it before with good results, I would let him try it - so long as he wanted to stand behind the work..... including the cost of R&R + rebuilding the engine if the crankshaft fails.
