Some things can be done out of sequence, but I find it best to follow this order:

1) Front covers
2) Cooling fan bracket
3) A/C compressor bracket
4) A/C compressor
5) Serpentine belt tensioner bracket
6) P/S mounting bracket
7) P/S pump bracket
8) P/S pump
9) Radiator
10) Lower shroud
11) Engine cooling fan
12) Upper shroud
13) Radiator hoses
14) Drive belts
15) Alternator
16) Coil

Don't forget the transmission cooling lines if you have an automatic.

Frank

Thank you so much. Should be able to get all of that done tonight.

I don't have an automatic but I have the oil cooler for the engine.

My shroud is a one piece so I'll just improvise on that one.

Thanks again.

That's the factory suggested method, but you can never be sure about a distributor setting unless you know where the rotor should point at TDC. Try it this way:

Put the engine on TDC (compression stroke). You can do that a couple of ways:

1) With the spark plugs removed, rotate the engine until you can feel air coming out of the #1 spark plug hole, then continue to rotate the engine until the crankshaft pulley timing mark comes up on TDC on the front cover mark.

- or -

2) With the driver side (on a LH driver) cam sprocket cover off, rotate the engine until the cam sprocket is aligned with the mark on the rear cover.

Then insert the distributor - the rotor should point to ~ the center of the firewall.

Thanks Frank.

All of that checks out. Going slow now as I hooked my knee cap between bumper and tow hitch twisting it about 45 degrees before popping out - it's killing me and slowly getting worse.

I'm jumping along on one leg but getting there.

still to do

A/C
PS pump
radiator + fan and cowling
fluids
