With just about everything bolted on, I am proud to say I don't have any bolts lying around needing a home. smile

Agreed!

One has to have left-over bolts, nuts and spring washers to populate the "nuts-n-bolts" bucket!

PS You don't have a spare dip stick lying around?

All buttoned up but I can't start it as I'm missing the dipstick. I'm hoping it's at the workshop.

On the other hand my knee is just about back to normal. I couldn't walk this morning and now I barely have a limp. weird....

And I did connect the loose ground ( can you spot it ? )- before you ask <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

btw. when I start it tomorrow, what should the electrical advance be?

5 degrees btdc at idle?

Do i need to plug or bridge a connector before checking?

We have 95 octane here.

Don't even try to set the ignition timing until after you've run the engine for the first 20 minutes at a high idle and changed the oil and coolant.

For the initial warmup, just set the distributor in the middle of the adjustment slot - it should be fine. You can move it around in the slot to find a better spot if it stumbles.

You don't ever want to try to set the ignition advance on a cold engine. When you do set it, be sure to ground the wire at the firewall and set it at 5? BTDC. Once the base timing is set, remove the ground wire and the lead should change to ~ 15? BTDC at idle.

Nice and clean. How did you get you intake manifold so clean looking. Did you paint it or polish it up.

the only two connectors I have on the firewall are these two.

Is it one of them?
