Probably so - if you can find the right size bearing.

That won't help, think about it for a minute.

Dammit Michael!!! You can't do that when I have my mouth full of food. Sorry Brendan. With you, not at you

I'll probably check this out over the weekend. In the meantime can anybody please tell me where I can find the rear door open switch. The flashing interior light is driving me mad.

just removed the alternator belt and the noise is gone so it's definitely the viscous fan pulley.

Not pulling further tonight as the idler pulley bracket and A/C bracket has to come off before that pulley assy can come off.

But at a quick glance it looks as though you can press out that bearing and put a new one in.

PS : I love this car and I'm starting to make plans for trading the jetta (vw vento)

removed that pulley assembly and when I spun it, it felt really solid and smooth so I thought "it can't be this"

I cleaned everything and re-assembled with a bit of penetrating oil on the pulley bearing and by the alternator.

Everything is quiet as a kitten purring now

So let's see how it goes.

Anybody know where the rear door switch is ( that triggers the door-open light )

I am enjoying it but still need to do some stuff

oil changes on engine, tranny, transfer & diffs
bottom radiator spout needs to be twisted as previous shop misaligned it after the re-core.
cv boots
shocks
