I have a 1991 Toyota 4x4 pickup with a 5 speed. I need a radiator with more cooling capacity.
I've read that the aluminum radiators are better than the brass ones, A 1-row aluminum equals a 3-row brass. Is this true?
Why wont a 6-cylinder radiator work? Is there a reasonably priced unit for my truck?
Thanks
Ralph

I *think* the 6cyl (3.0)uses the same radiator as 2.4l.
Radaitors.com (or is it Radiatorbarn) has a 3-row aluminum one as a pretty good price, and will getit to you very fast.

The biggest problem with an aluminum radiators is fixing them on the trail.

yep 3.0 will work .. with very "minor" modifications (fan shroud) .. also a 2.4L turbo rad will "bolt in" and work great .. it's a 3 core .

I've read that the aluminum radiators are better than the brass ones, A 1-row aluminum equals a 3-row brass. Is this true? Depends on who you believe. Seems the way the radiator is constructed has more effect than the material used. Here's one take on the subject, but you can easily find others saying different: http://www.usradiator.com/testing.htmDave

Put in the 3 core radiator. Nice and quick fix. Ran it hard this afternoon and it didn't even care.
I was surprised on how much more coolant the radiator held.

One thing to keep in mind is the fan shroud. The shroud will make a big difference in cooling at low speeds due to more effective airflow through the radiator. Without it you have less consistent/even flow and wasted fan energy.
