I spluged and picked up an Autometer 2 5/8 Mech Oil Pressure gauge. I'm thinking of total indestuctability on installation. Following Charlies suggest , I'm cranking it up a bit. I'm thinking steel brake lines and hoses. I got a steel T with metric somekinda threads off a Toyota. The threads on the guage are ?what/ ,, but a montero brake hose screws on preety snuge. The fitting on the filter housing is BTPT ? . A 1/8 NPT tap I think might stip the treads. NAPA has the B. adapter,,,2 fitting are $36 . More later...

Stock 2.6 oil pressure gauge senders screw into a British standard pipe thread.

Dave, The brake lines need to be the universal hoses with JIC threaded ends. These seat on a 37? tapered fitting. The factory type brake hoses are a 10mm thread and the adapters will be a nightmare to work with. The most cost effective way will be to buy from a company like Summit or Jegs. The local suppliers do not have good or economical sources for this type of plumbing. You should be able to come off the block and use one hose section up to a bulkhead fitting through the firewall. And a separate hose from there to the gauge. The hoses are easy to source up into the 48" length as needed. The gauge has a standard 1/8 NPT male on it. It will take a female threaded fitting.
Local hydraulic suppliers can supply many of the fittings but can be frustrating to by from unless you are well versed in what you need. I have seen to many hydraulic suppliers recommend clamped hoses for oil lines. A clamped fitting is rarely allowed for service over 50 psi. Every Mitsu engine I have had in my 35 years of owning these will pump out 120 psi when cold.

Thanks for the advice. I went over to Kragens last night to study pipe threads on all the brake lines . I left cross eyed and started thinking about the copper line kit . I'll print this out and read when I get home. I live in a rural area and specialized parts are hard to find . I really suck that I don't have more internet access cause it doesn't give me time to shop and learn what's out there and what it is. The catal;ogs don't list all so noaday you can't live without the net.

Brake line rubber hoses are probably not compatible with engine oil.

IIRC the fitting on the oil pressure sender is 1/8 BSPT

After looking at Summit catalog at the Autometer braided hose I figured I'd have to put this off till next month. I noticed that the I.D. was 3/16 and it came with hardware store type brass fittings. I went in to the big city this a.m. ( pop. 40k) and asked NAPA who could make a power steering hose . They said no P.S. hoses but they make Hydalic hoses with 1000 lb rating in the back. I had them make 24 in. with 1/4 fittings and 2 reducers to 1/8 npt. $23 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> . I'm gonna tap the oil fiter mount to 1/8 npt, run the hose up the fender, 3 way fitting , 15 lb idiot light sender, copper tube to gauge . I might get 3/16 copper tube at the hardware store instead of the auto meter 1/8 so I can get the accuracy Charlie discribes.

I'm Back on after a good week off line. He what's new; Went up to Carquest in Paso looking for fittings. The Manager up there said why don't you use brake line? My original idea but it was a confuing PITA. She said she did her rock crawler. So now I'm gonna try it.She got me all the fittings and breaklines. My concern is all the wieght that will be hanging on the fitting into the Filter housing. I've got a brass close 1/8 on there and I don't trust that. All the stainless steel fittings around here are made in China , complete with commy bubbles in the steel.

I'm going with Charlie's recommendations and experience on having a fail proof system. I don't know if you read his reciepe. I broke a pipe with a T in it after a real hard drop. I'm scarred for life on that experience. Yeah ,I worry to much, but I'm not gonna take any chance with oil being pumped out again before I notice. I want to be able to have a tree limb, etc. busting thru or a flying rock or most likely drop a battery or head , e- manifold , etc etc. on a brittle plastic tube or a soft copper line with cheap Commy Chinese fittings.
