The timing marks were physically checked and the distributor was OK with the timing also.
One thing about that distributor, is that it would be easy to think that the rotor is pointing to the wrong cylinder because the inside contacts don't line up directly below the plug wire terminals. When it was first looked at , it looked like the timing was way off, physically.
