In Oz, Powerchip ( www.powerchipgroup.com ) do an upgrade, but at about $700, gives about an extra 10% torque and power.

1999 Rav4 rear shocks are a bit longer, but be careful if using standard springs as they are likely to drop out.

Plenty of info on both of these in the stickies above...

PS: Please don't "shout" with capital letters. Makes it very difficult to read.

Hi,

I have been running a Power power chip gold producing 106 KW and 197Nm for approx 15 months now.

Disadvantages are: running 98 Octane fuel (Price premium over standard fuel)Apart from that none. I have run lower octane fuels when I have not been able to purchase 98 and have not noticed any significant problems.

Benefits: Smoother running Initially felt slight power increase. Economy stayed the same for added power.

Economy varies between 12'5 litres to 9.8 litres depending on the type of driving. I get a rang of 500km out of each tank before filling up. I have not run it much past that though I would like to see how many more Km I would get out of a tank.

One of my critisisms for the Sporty is its limited fuel range, especially if towing. I wish we could easily get a larger fuel tank for it.

I would like to drive against a standard Sporty to physicaly see the difference in perfomance.

It is the same company that DAMKIA posted up about. I did get mine for less than $700 AUS though.

Cheers, Chris

I know a few of you have chips on your Sportys. Do they live up to the claim?

Body Damage is Cool
If I understand what I read the idea behind the mentioned system is to "fool" the ECU to think that the temperature of the incoming air is cooler that it actualy is making the mixture richer, something that in other aplications was achieved with.... a sipmle resistor..

In this application is that for some reason it reads the O2 sensors to adjust itself...

something dnot sound right to me, since if O2 sensors see a "richer than should" mixture will give instuction to ECU to "cut some fuel"

An other thing I can think of is that in a hot day the overall result will be small if any since
hot intace air and a richer than normal mixtsure will cause detonation, the relevan sensor will pick that up and reduce timing...

As soon as I clicked on their website and saw that they sold the "electric supercharger" it confirmed to me that these guys are thieves and are full of crap.

If I were you I'd cancel that order pronto or return and insist on a refund. It ain't gonna work.

Is this product a potentially dangerous application that may damage my engine or ECU due to the nature of its intended design? I wouldn't want to risk tearing up my internalls or fry my ECU. If it ain't dangerous than I have nothing to loose in trying this application since they already shipped the damn thing.

Body Damage is Cool
since it inerveens and "talks" to the ECU and the fact that is not passive but its a powered device
is your money, your ECU, but I personally would not put it on my car
but as i said your car your desision..

It doesn't "talk" to anything. Long term you end up spending big bucks on new O2 sensors that have been sooted up and buggered by running too rich. Just because there are connections to to the O2 sensors doesn't mean they are actually connected internally to anything. These things simply put a 5 cent resistor across the IAT to fool the ECU into overfuelling. The rest of your hard earned $xxx dollars is theirs....

"If it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is."

Return it and get your money back, or backcharge your credit card ASAP.
