Why wouldn't he "want one in the rear"? Sure it may be "more of an upgrade" to do something else, but what if the "something else" isn't available to him? If he were running big output numbers at the rear wheels, then sure I'd say a ratcheting locker may not be the best choice, but out of a 2.6? Over an open differential and in the absence of other options, I can't say that I agree. Reasons why having a lockrite back there would be useful since we aren't all so smart.

Sport diff gets you monster axle size, disk brakes, factory locker... etc. All for junkyard prices.


I agree, no contest...but you missed my point about availability. We don't all have access to these parts and have to do what we can do. That's all I'm trying to say.
