I guess it also depends on your particular skill set. Of course a diff must be welded sufficiently for it to be reliable. On the other hand by the time you find (IF you can) a leaf spring MS axle WITH a locker, bolts it up, replaced brake components (likely needed), got a pump, wired it all up etc...I would think the difference is trivial. I think there are a few people on here with SR axles bolted up but cannot lock it yet.
