Anybody know if the activetrac tcase will mate to a km148?

I expect you would need the smaller transfer that was behind the 3.0.
I have been thinking of adapting in the TCU from a Diamante transmission to control the transmission behind the 3.5. The stupid shift parameters and the unlocking of the torqueconverter everytime one backs off the throttle is a real irritant to me on hilly twisty roads. The Diamante trans locks up in all 4 gears and is far nicer shifting.
We aren't off topic here are we?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
At this point I would settle for any type of Montero being made available in the U.S.. However I rather doubt with the economic and political condition we are in that we will ever see them again.

Gen 3's will have ARB for the rear soon. Front is already avail. The Rear diff has the same R/P as the old 3.5 big axle, and the shafts have a couple more splines..I think they'll surprise some people once they start getting wheeled a little.

Me personnally I would like a Gen 2 SWB with a 3.5 DOHC and rear locker. Cant get that so I'm putting as much gen 2 Junk on my 89 as I can. Someday I'll put a 3.5 or 3,8 in it. I agree the dash of the Gen1 is way nicer.

I hate the dash on the gen2. Very dim in daylight, sometimes almost impossible to read.

I also hate the lack of vent windows, and round headlights, and the plastic cladding crap...

I'm halfway planning to put the 3.5 in the 89 lwb for the best of both worlds. Anybody know if the activetrac tcase will mate to a km148?

I've thought about most of that. It's impossible to drive with the windows open over about 25mph - too noisy. I'm looking into plastic "weatherguards" here (OZ) - pretty costly. The headlights are nowhere near as good as the 88 import I just sold.

Having owned DOHC cars (Lotus, Jag), I think there are too many moving parts and torque curve is at too high RPMs.

But, I have three cigarette lighters and three (left after removing one) cup holders.

while thats true about DOHC in general....i have no issues with my SR. it doesnt have diesel low end but its got plenty of tq at 2k to move itself.

Miata DOHC engine goes forever. There was a guy on Miata.net with over 400K miles on a 1.6L 4 banger! Original drive train In fact when you think about it, does my 3.5L SHOC 24V mitsu engine really have less moving parts than a 3.5L DOHC 24V mitsu engine?

I have about 265K on the 6G72 DOHC that is in my Diamante. Unfortunately I think I have discovered Wal Mart synthetic oil is not equal to Mobil 1 since a noise has developed deep in the engine when one revs it. It could be a failed belt tensioner or the early signs of a rod bearing going. It is tough to tell but I think a quarter million miles is OK for one of these.
