I am replaceing my exhaust and the hangers dont reach. The rubber piece's that hold them up, are now to short. is this a comon problem when a lift has been installed? i'm going down to the local muffler shop to see if they any longer ones. did anyone else have this problem?

I think I would twist and turn the pipes until they were nice and snug UP where they would be as much out of the way as possible,. Seems longer hangers would allow them to be lower than I'd like.

If i twist and turn the pipes to even come close to the hanger then the pipe rests against the shock and or the hitch. the whole pipe should go straight up about another inch or two. but its just not going to i think its because of the t-case drop, about an inch.

Ahhaa! So then I'd be for heating & bending the pipe at the forward most spot to make the rest of the pipe fall into line where it should be.

The Wrangler (YJ) has the exhaust pipe under the t-case skid plate so a t-case drop should not have had an impact.

A body lift will change routing geometry. A spring lift should not change routing geometry.

The TJ may have some differences...

unfortunatly on mine the cat does have a hanger that ties to the bottom of the trany, go figure.. so thats why its off about an inch. as for heating the pipe and bending it, i dont have a torch. so i went to midas and showed them the rubber piece that i had and they gave me one that was a bit longer. It all worked out. its all nice and tight, and a bit quieter.

i would think aftermarket manufactures would have seen this and come out with an exhaust that would have longer hangers or come with longer rubber connectors. or maybe i just havent found them.

Aftermarket manufacturers build their products to fit on a vehicle that is essentially stock.

As those of us with modified vehicles are well aware, once you modify your vehicle (such as dropping the t-case to which the exhaust system is attached) then you can naturally expect to have to do some improvising in order to get the aftermarket part to fit on your altered vehicle.
