OK, here's the deal:

My 4Runner: 2WD

Back in August I orderd 1.5" Daystar spacers for the rear and 1" Cornfeds for the front - then ordered the heavy rubber gaskets from Cornfed to increase the front to 1.5"

I have NOT installed either of these yet. Now I'm considering sending the Daystars back - my penalty will be a 20% restocking fee since it's beyond 30 days. Instead, I'm looking into getting "stock" 4x4 rear springs which I understand are 1" taller than the 4x2 rear springs. Then I can use the 1" Cornfed spacers up front for the little lift that I wanted. The rear 4x4 springs from Concielli Toyota are only about $38.00 each so it's cheaper than Daystar spacers.

Do yall think it's worth it to lose 20% on the cost of the Daystars in exchange for the springs? ($89)

Will the 4x4 springs fit without a problem?

Are the 4x4 stock springs thicker as well as taller or just taller? The 4x2 springs are thin.

I'm not looking into Downey springs or the PP lift springs 'cause I don't want that much lift - just a little.

Wha-da-ya-say? The other option is to use the Daystar spacers and forget about the springs...

Thanks,
Rob

I don't think the stock 4WD springs will work very well and I doubt you will get much lift at all.

I would get the rear PP springs and use your 1" Cornbreds on a set of 4WD stock V6 front springs.

Unfortunatly your 2WD springs are really quite useless.

That's the bottom line. Or stick with what you have.

I agree with Steve - I'd doubt 4x4 rear springs would give you much lift. Even if you want to attempt that, definitely don't return your Daystar rear spacers until after you realize that new rear Toy springs aren't much different at all from what you have. You're past the 30 day return anyway.

If the 1" front spacers actually measure 1" thick, then you'll get more lift than that in front, since the coil-over-shocks attach about halfway across the control arms. In contrast, the thickness of rear spacers are a direct correlation to the amount of lift you'll get there since it's just above the springs, above a solid axle.

No, you shouldn't need new shocks, although I'm not familiar with 2wd stuff.

The front Cornbred 1" spacers are actually 3/4" thick. The thick rubber gasket is 1/4" thick but you'd use that for 1.5" of lift according to David.

Thanks for the input. I'm afraid I might have missed my opportunity to get those PP rear springs at the 15% discount since the sale is over. I'll e-mail Concielli Toyota to see what the cost of front 4X4 springs would be.

Thanks

Hey Rob,

You could always try selling the Daystar spacers here on the For Sale board, or ebay, etc. Recoup that $$$ and spend it on new rear springs. Just a thought.

Thanks Steve & Jayson for all the input. Maybe I was a little overzealous when I ordered the spacers to start with. Steve, you're right. RIGHT is how I want to do it. Gotta do some thinking.

Thanks,
Rob
