<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> I'm still looking. A gun shop went out of business last week in the next town over. I'm going to contact the owner and see what he has left. I talked to a guy that was in there the last day he was open, and heard he had everything marked WAAAY down. I just hope he didn't sell it all to another dealer/broker.

I have no experience with it but how about a Taurus Millennium Pro? General internet consensus is to stay away from Taurus semi autos.

X2 I agree. They might of changed, but they started out pretty cheap and flimsy. Also at least in the area of he 1911 Taurus mostly use aluminum frames. Cheaper built guns for a better gun price. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

Since the local city police use .45 Sig-Sauers, I gave the magazine to one of our security officers today, but kept the Speer rounds for target practice. Here are a couple of pictures of one - nasty looking thing, eh?
Yeah, the Gold Dots look like fricken ash trays, huge cavity. Ensures reliable expansion. You should have kept those if they function in your pistol, they are a great defensive round. They penetrate plenty on a human. Although, some 1911 guys reported feed issues with them due to the huge cavity not playing nice with the feed ramp and/or chamber. Golden Sabers feed in pretty much anything due to their more rounded profile. I don't get why Golden Sabers are priced as high as they are. A box of 25 of those is almost the same price as 50 rds of other premium JHPs (Ranger T, Federal HST, etc) at the gun shows here. Damn near $1/rd for the GS, maybe $.80, and others are $.50-60. Makes a difference when you need to fire 100-200 through a pistol to confirm reliable function before using it as carry ammo. I scored a nice price on 230gr Fed HST last year and bought a bunch, so that's what I keep in the G36.

The going price for Remington Golden Saber .45 BJHP is about $28-$30/25 - or $1.10-1.20/each. I agree it's high, but Remington doesn't work the police shows like the other manufacturers trying to sell volume..... I guess they're content to sell what they can and use the round as a profit-maker.
Everything I've read about the G/S round is good, but whether it's better than the Hydra-Shok round is arguable. I use the cheap stuff at the range and will keep G/S rounds in the magazine for carry. I'm now buying Federal American Eagle for range use. Every now and then I'll probably shoot a few of the G/S rounds at the range just to make sure they continue to feed ok.
I haven't seen anything yet that won't feed in the Colt 1911 with the parkerized feed ramp. I guess the Army inspectors were right in their assessment that the finish was slick enough to not require polishing the ramp.

Exactly... BUT There's a 3 point control system designed in there. The magazine, feed ramp, and slide are all involved, and important. MOST 45 acp JHP rounds have smaller hollow points than say a 9mm round so as to feed reliably in a 1911.

I don't want to spend a bunch of money. I don't want to buy a junk gun. What do you guys reccommend for me to buy as my concealed carry weapon? The only pistol I have is a .357 revolver, 8" barrell...I'd need a trench coat to conceal it. :P I was thinking a Springfield in .40 or .45 maybe? I dunno, part of me thinks revolver is the way to go. Suggestions with pics would be GREATLY appreciated. Glock 26 subcompact if you want super concealable. It'll hold a full 10 rounds. There will probably never be an instance when you will need more than that. I used to own a glock 19 and always thought my wifes 26 was a smoother shot.

Our CCW instructor last night said that 95% of the time 3 rounds or less are needed. I'm REALLY leaning towards one of the double action revolvers I've seen...the "hammerless" variety. In either .357 or 38 +P, I think. We have to put some range time in this thursday, and shoot around 150 rounds. I'm trying to find someone with a semi-auto .22 I can borrow...I don't want to spend the $$ on shooting 150 rounds of anything else. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Get a .357 and you can shoot the .38+Ps too and save a little cash on ammo.
