Since the local city police use .45 Sig-Sauers, I gave the magazine to one of our security officers today, but kept the Speer rounds for target practice. Here are a couple of pictures of one - nasty looking thing, eh?

Yeah, the Gold Dots look like fricken ash trays, huge cavity. Ensures reliable expansion. You should have kept those if they function in your pistol, they are a great defensive round. They penetrate plenty on a human. Although, some 1911 guys reported feed issues with them due to the huge cavity not playing nice with the feed ramp and/or chamber. Golden Sabers feed in pretty much anything due to their more rounded profile.

I don't get why Golden Sabers are priced as high as they are. A box of 25 of those is almost the same price as 50 rds of other premium JHPs (Ranger T, Federal HST, etc) at the gun shows here. Damn near $1/rd for the GS, maybe $.80, and others are $.50-60. Makes a difference when you need to fire 100-200 through a pistol to confirm reliable function before using it as carry ammo. I scored a nice price on 230gr Fed HST last year and bought a bunch, so that's what I keep in the G36.
