Thanks, guys!

A check is in the mail this evening!

The concern about acquiring this car was the 1,500 mile round trip and the impossibility of a car this clean coming out of the rust-belt.

I've been looking for a car for Frank's engine for a couple of years, and have come close on occasion, but this is the first clean Gen I I've been able to "reel in all the way to the boat." There was a really sweet truck with just 110,000 miles out of North Mississippi that I just missed. There have been a few Texas trucks available, but they've all sold before I could be sure I was buying something decent. And I'm 100 miles further from Dallas than I am from Western New York. Florida and South Carolina would be good places to look, but as chance would have it I've just not seen anything suitable there.

Meanwhile, Frank's engine has been patiently reclining on a pallet, mummified in plastic shrink-wrap.

On this trip to New York, I may take an extra day or two and visit a friend in Boston, hauling my tow dolly through streets made famous by Paul Revere and Ben Franklin. That would be a real red-neck thing to do. I should tour Cambridge, Harvard, and MIT pulling the dolly behind me.

I'll take photos of the car when I get to it, as well as photos of the transformation process.

Bob

I'm in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, at the moment, working on a community health assessment. Once I get home and get caught up on work, I'll figure out when I can take a few days off for the trip.

There are lots of diesel Monteros here. The most popular truck is the four-door diesel Mighty Max. I was offered an opportunity to go 4-wheeling on rugged mountain roads and cross a stream, but I had team paperwork to complete and had to turn down the offer!

I got another set of photos on the NY Raider, which weren't exactly what the guys on the forum asked for, but my check has already cleared, so the deal is done.

I'll make a point of pulling the driveshaft before hauling it home.
