Bucking a headwind heading into Strathmore on hwy = no fun. Fuel economy was poor. Felt like I could've used more power too; overall, the truck felt sluggish with the load. Tomorrow I will do some investigating, checking hoses, cleaning intercooler, etc.

Towing with an auto is definitely more work. I now have one more thing to worry about overheating. Towing a hardside trailer with a large wind exposure is also more work, compared to my pop-up. Can hardly wait to hit the Coquihalla this summer...

Got busy today: Blanked the EGR, installed a boost gauge, and cleaned out the intercooler. Hopefully this will make a difference on the next camping trip. We shall see... I did find a very nice gauge panel to fit in the lower shelf below the second DIN slot. Now have two empty slots, being held for an EGT and a TransTemp gauge. Stay tuned...

How was the big trailer experience otherwise? Did the big trailer live up to camping expectations?
We should make a pair of those gauge blanks, I need an EGT, thinking of running volts and oil pressure.

The "big" little trailer was awesome. Warm shower night time is an awesome new part of camping. Huge awning was very handy. Very easy to set up, and break camp. Love it!

Cool news Phil. My wife and I gave up on tenting after we woke up in an inch of water about 6 years ago in Whitemud Park in Edmonton. A tent trailer or popup is sounding like a great idea now that we have a capable tow vehicle and a toddler that we need to keep tabs on at bedtime.

Maurie - Let me know if you deceide to rig up an oil pressure gauge. I've been wanting one for a while. We can do a tandem job. I'll bring the beer.

I really do feel naked driving without an oil pressure gauge, my old beater VW Rabbit even had one!!! The Pajero should at least have that simple gauge.

Sorry to hear the Paj isn't working out for towing so well. Even with the 2.8 and your featherweight camper. I may have to resort to selling mine since a camper is really looking like something we'll be buying soon.

Pull the altimeter and that stupid magic eightball in the factory pod and put the Boost and EGT instead. It takes a little tinkering with the front facia and the back piece and then it looks like it came from mr. Mitsu himself.
Then you can use the shelve for something more important like smokes or a pair of warm gloves.

Where did you get the panel for the cubby? I have been looking at putting in a boost gauge, oil pressure and something else and was going to do the "A" pillar gauge cluster if I could find one but I am not oppose to putting it in the center stack and eliminating that cubby as I only store junk in there that I lose.

"Concept One" in Calgary, kind of behind Blackfoot Motorsports... they are a VeeDub shop that a buddy put me onto. I'll post pics of "the install so far" if you like?
