There is no 4 low light. The light comes on when its in 4wd, either high or low

There should be a noticeable difference in gear ratio in 4 low. Drop the trans down into 1st gear. Drive around a bit in 2wd high to get a feel of the gear. Then shift it into 4wd low. You should notice a difference in the lower gear ratio. If not, your not in 4lo.


Check the frame for rust. Chances are, if the body is that rusty, the frame is too. Check around the rear half of the frame, under the cab and toward the back. Take a screwdriver and poke at it. Get a magnet, it should stick to good metal, and not to rust.
