So I was installing some rock rails, spun a threaded insert in a body panel, and decided to use a long stainless steel bolt instead. The problem was that there wasn't quite enough thread on the bolt, so I ran it through a threading die, but I cracked three pieces off the die. Is stainless really that much harder than mild steel? It's not like it was a grade 5 or 8 or something.
