I did find something wrong with the search. When I enter search criteria for 1 year it gives the error:
"The specified date range is too wide. The maximum date range you can search with is 1 month."
I assume that's a site-wide setting.

The local option does limit to 80x80 size. I didn't see anything about kb limit.

80x80 is a great limit. Assuming they would have to use one of the more efficient file formats like jpg or gif, then nevermind I mentioned a KB limit. It'll probably average about 3-4KB. I remember now - I believe it's not possible to limit an avatar size when they are hosted remotely. I think we discussed this possibility in the past in this forum.

We should make a rough estimate of typical number of unique avatars per forum page times number of forum page views per month times 4KB. Do we want to allow or can we afford that added bandwidth? If they are hosted here, there will most likely be more people that use avatars. As a comparison, Colorado4x4.org hosts everyone's avatars (up to 100x100 pixels) and maybe 75% of posts have an avatar next to them.

Jeff, search is fixed, allows up to 5 yrs for the date range. Also the max size in pixels and kb can be set, John.

I also tweaked/fixed some settings, sorry about that.

John, to remove Ratings, that has to be done in the Templates' php code - showthreaded and showflat if I recall. Also, I hate that they show Views then Replies, it is counterintuitive. Anyway I had "undone" both of these "features" years ago............

That quick reply window at the bottom of a thread is annoying, esp with it already being an option with the edit/reply etc available.

Coffee? eewwwwww. Had enough military; green is good on my eyes.

Rating column- do we REALLY need it? Same with the envelopes. I know it's template related for some of the stuff, but clean and simple is a good thing.

Guess I'm not a blinger...

Thanks, Joe! But I have to disagree with limiting it to only 5 yrs instead of the length of time that 4x4Wire has been around. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> Even though I know we (or should I say I) said some stupid things way back then, posts exist and can still be useful resources, especially since the 2000-2003 time frame included the large concentration of 4Runner peeps here before Corey started Yotatech.

Speaking of the variety of custom fixes to the software, do the custom changes need to be re-done or verified every time a patch or upgrade is performed?

This falls in the "really trivial" category. The avatar for the site (in the command line) is now the "light bulb".

Noticed the discussion about PM limits at 200 then 250. Do those also apply to us moderators and admins? I think I'm WAY over that. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />

I think the PM limit is site-wide from what I read.

The rating seems to have a few people amused.

This was a rather extensive upgrade.

Found both the size and kb switch for avatars. There are a few other options with this that are more attractive features.
