Hey all ...

Long time no post -- been kinda busy the last couple of years.

Anyway ... I'm trying to get my 94 Rodeo back on the road, and I've got a problem with the automatic transmission. It upshifts just fine from 1 - 4, but then if I'm in a high gear and hit the accelerator and it needs to do a downshift ... big problem. The engine revs with no power going to the wheels and then after a few seconds it "catches" and lurches forward.

Don't know if this is associated with the problem, but right at the time this started happening I got a persistent leak from the tranny that drips very slowly but consistently (doesn't drain the transmission, but leaves an ugly and growing spot on my driveway).

Did a few searches, but couldn't find anything. Is my tranny dead? How much of a pain is it to trade out?

Thanks!

I'm no expert on autos, but my understanding is a common problem on these trannys is the "mode selector switch". Can't tell you much more than that, but might be something to look into.
