Hi, Gary. Thanks for pointing out the electrical manual -- I'd forgotten about that. Yeah, it's R12, on page 123; the plastic connector could accommodate 10 pins, but only 7 are present (see the x's in the diagram.)

The trouble is just that the two haves of connector R12 won't mate. It's like they are actually slightly incompatible connectors, that a gremlin magically replaced while I was in the house!! Or that they were forced together at the factory.

Lube is actually not a crazy idea ... and, duh, I should take some pictures <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
