It seemed like it was time to rebuild my skid underneath the oilpan on the Monty. I had bent and bashed it enough that it was a 15 minute job to put it back on because the holes werent aligned. My old one was only 1/8" and it bent too easily so I went up to 3/16. With the old skid I always had problems with it filling up with junk after going through mud, so to solve that problem I cut holes in the new one to help with drainage and save a little on weight. I am a little curious to see how well it holds up with the holes in it so a little testing is in order and I will report back. I dont forsee any major bending but who knows. It was really easy and quick to whip this up with the plasma. What a difference from the torch that I used on the old one 5 years ago. Sometimes I think I love my plasma more than my kids I am also going to rework the other skids as I get time. Anyhow, here are a couple of pictures. ![[Linked Image]](http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h239/icysyrup22/Skidplates/Skidplate1.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h239/icysyrup22/Skidplates/Skidplate2.jpg)

Looks cool Icy Angelo will be salivating
The only thing I would point out is that you would have retained more strength by staggering the holes (i.e. just 2 holes in the middle row)
Have fun testing it out

How about me and Reuben just drop off our Gen II/II.5 at your house and you mod up full armor. Sounds like a plan, huh Reuben? Good work tho, def post up some reports. 1/8" was def too thin, 3/16 should do better. Keep us posted

Thanks Angelo,
ya the plasma has been a great investment. With that and a welder you can do a lot of building pretty easily.

I just noticed that you made two of the mounting holes open. Is that so you can just loosen those bolts and only remove the two at the other end? That would make removal and refitting so much easier as one end would always be held in position on the loosened bolts while you install the other two bolts (or something like that...still half asleep ). Good thinking

Yes, they are notched at the backside so that I can slide them on the the bolts with the washers and I dont have to support near as much and try to thread bolts in. I cursed everytime I had to remove the old one and it was lighter than this one.It is much nicer this way.

... The only thing I would point out is that you would have retained more strength by staggering the holes (i.e. just 2 holes in the middle row) ... Nice! I agree with Mad_Scientist, though. Also, smaller holes. Bit enough to do the job but small enough for the edges to not catch on things or let anything major through. Edward
