So, the god-awful rattle-clack my truck has in neutral is probably the input bearing then? Great.
Looks like it's time to rebuild before it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />'s itself apart, or just get a good one and not have any nasty surprises down the road. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Get the fsm off MonyMcV's site. There's a m/t section that shows tear down and assembly. Don't be put off by the special tools section. A brass drift and a hammer will do almost all of it.
