I want to put a 3" body lift in my automatic. I am not so skilled, so I am trying to plan all the work ahead of time. Could you guys help me out? It would be great if you still have some pictures. I made a list of things that will need to be done:
1- Relocated power steering reservoir;
2- Adjust gas filler tube;
3- Relocate bumpers;
4- Lengthen brake lines;
5- Cut floor for the 4x4 shift or bend shifter;
6- Lengthen shaft to the shifter linkage;
1 and 2 are really simple, and although I am not completely sure of how to do items 3, 4 and 5, I'll probably be able to figure them out. What worries me is number 5. I took the center console and lever apart to see how it works. If IÆm not mistaken, the shifter is only connected to a single metal shaft (like a stick) under the car. ThereÆs a metal piece that goes from the shifter to under the body, and that metal piece connects to the metal shaft. The metal shaft has some threads, which I believe can be used to adjust the length of the shaft. If that is correct, I think I should disconnect the shaft, raise the body, and the use the threads to adjust the shaft to the new body height. Does it sound right to you?
Did you guys had to extent the steering shaft?
Now, concerning the body lift blocks. Have you guys bought the 4crawler body lift or have build it yourselves? The 4crawler costs 320 bucks, kind of expensive for me. I found a 3.5" diameter UHMW rod, the same material that 4crawler uses, for $17.66 per foot (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=30479&catid=868). How hard is to cut this material?
Thanks
