You are right, I too feel that the best option for me is to buy from a local dealer. I definitely do not want to nor capable of getting right under the hood right away and trying to sort out problems.

I will definitely do the regular maintenance and won't cheap out on that. And it seems there are very good resources, like this site, you guys and outfits like CVI to tackle the bigger problems that may come up.
