My truck is nearing the 200k mark, so I took it for a t-bel change, and also looked at some other things that needed attention. Here's what I did:

- Replaced timing belts, tensioners and oil seals.
- Replaced fuel filter.
- Oil and filter change.
- Replaced transmission mount, was not completely blown, but would be soon.
- Replaced trailing arm bushings, which were blown, see pic below.
- Replaced temp sensor, which was reporting wrong temps.
- Straightened the cross member on which the transmission sits, as it was bent, pushing the transmission like 1cm upwards, also was rubbing one of the torsion bars.
- Also, not so long ago I changed the transfer, transmission and differential oils. Alternator and radiator are less than 6 months old.

The trailing arms bushing were very, very tight. The guy that operates the hydraulic press had a hard time taking them out, but took him much more effort to put in the new ones. He said the day before he changed the bushings of a Nissan Patrol, and those were piece of cake, but these made him sweat it!

Here are some (very bad) pictures of the blown bushings:

Still pending:

- Check/adjust valve clearance.
- Check front suspension/steering components for play.
- Tire balancing and steering alignment.
- Check rear brakes, adjustment of proportioning valve.

Cool. Feels good to get that stuff done, doesn't it? I just got my front end done, but I'm sure I'll need a Bunch of suspension bushings soon too. Where did you buy yours?

I rebuilt my whole front end last November and I felt so relieved to get it done, the only thing I didn't do was upper ball-joints and pitman arm. The next project on the pajero is sway bar bushings and trailing arm bushings!

I had the upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm and idler all changed out. It's in getting the alignment now.

Let me know if/when you find the bushings please! I'll need to order those.

Yes it feels good to get things done. I bought the bushings at a local parts dealer (I'm in Nicaragua, not US or Canada). I think they are the same for any Gen I or II Pajero/montero, so you should not have problems finding it.

Sway bar bushings replacement is quick, unless you have smashed or bent the nut/bolt like I did <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
Last time I changed them I had to replace the bolts too.

BTW, anyone know the proper way to adjust the proportioning valve? I need to give the rear end a little more braking power.

Last weekend I went to a beach ~150km from where I live, 20km of which are dirt road. When I was on my way on the dirt road, the left front shock absorber support pin broke. I could still drive, but very slowly.

On my way back I changed the pin and bushing, an also did the following:

- Checked front suspension/steering components for play. The front wheel bearings had a little play, had to be tightened. The idler arm was a bit loose, so it was re-tightened too.
- One of the rear brakes cylinder was leaking, changed the seals and adjusted the brake shoes. Braking has significantly improved.
- After this I took her for a wheel alignment.
