And I thought this problem was cured.
It happened this morning, 7/24/2009, at 0636 California time. I was moving from one forum (Oilburners.net) to 4x4Wire, navigating by way of my bookmarks. The major part of the screen still showed the Oilburners forum, though the top showed, "Welcolme to 4x4Wire..." and the addressbar showed, "http://www.4x4wire.com". At that point, with the major parts of the screen still displaying Oilburners forum, I got a splash screen, "SECURE CONNECTION FAILED:" with the text you show above.
I had to over-ride this four times before I was settled on the site. At that point I had a totally different than normal screen-- a 4x4wire logo, and text with a white background. The screen arrangement was completely different, though, I think, all the text and choices were there.
I chose to go to the Isuzu forum, received one more warning as before, over-rode that, and then received a fullscreen Firefox warning, "This Connection is Untrusted. ..." It gave me two choices, to view the Technical Details, or to continue with "I understand the Risks". I chose the later, did a one-time over-ride/permission, and continued with a normal auto-login.
My system, if it has any bearing: an old and slow Win2K sp4 running at 400, 512 Mb RAM, using Firefox 3.5.1.
I really hope this helps, and you're able to solve this problem. As you say, it's frustrating.
Thanks.
EDIT: BTW, the temporary certificate is back. It had disappeared, but is now back. The only thing I have done since I last posted about this has been to run CCleaner, as I occasionally do to clean up the hard drives.
