Getting the Wheeling Fever

there are 3 drive belts on the 97 3.2 4wd rodeo i know the one closest to the engine is the alt belt the middle belt is the a/c belt , does that a/c belt do anything else or can i drive with that belt off i try to tighten it but it wont tighten plus i donmt use the a/c anyway i was wondering if id do damage by not having that belt on while driving
