I live most of the time in Australia. Aftermarket support is greater than in the U.S. - particularly when you take into account the overall market. Australia has only 22 million people. 4X4s are popular here and SUVs make up a large percentage of the market. Pajeros are common - I don't know the market share, but probably not as great as Toyota. Australia is a Big Brother state and common threads in forums here have to do with what modifications are legal. "Can I take my rear seat out?" etc. New South Wales is currently proposing new restrictions on body lift and tire sizes.

This kind of thing reminds me of the UK. For example, anything that you, a passenger or a pedestrian might come in to contact with inside or outside your car must have a minimum of a 2.5mm radius (bolt heads and everything). No driving around with the rear bumper missing there. My brother has had tickets for driving a rusty car because it MIGHT cause additional injury to pedestrians in an accident!

One of the things I love about living in Southeast US is you can do what you like by comparison. I can't imagine a frame/tank lift would be legal over there.
