Finally got the new plugs (NGK BCPR7ET) installed ... Gadget style! So far so good. I can tell a difference right off but I want to give it a couple of days for the computer to adjust to my driving again with them in.
It took quite awhile to get them from ClubPlug.Net (those darn customs folks in Canada) and then I finally got time to install them today.
Took every bit of maybe 30 mins. to install. The driver side was a bit tricky manipulating the wires around the SC and brackets but not a real problem. Passenger side was a breeze. Just need patience.
Both the factory NGK's and Denso's looked fine as far as color and wear on the electrodes. So the engine seemed to have been tolerating the SC alright (maybe a bit of lean-out indication) with the stock plugs. I will pull up my plug chart and compare to see what's what with the factory plugs then I'll know more.
But, you can tell right off, the idle is real smooth and the acceleration is smoother. I could also tell when accelerating to highway speeds from an on-ramp that the engine does not seem to be retarding as much with the cooler plug therefore it feels like it pulls stronger.
To be sure what's really happening now, I am running my new diag program (Auto-Tap) and will log what the computer is seeing (via the OBDII hookup) to see if it is making an major re-adjustments to the fuel, timing advance/retard, etc. with the new plugs installed. I already have a partial base run logged on the stock plugs so maybe I can scratch up enough good data for a decent comparison to post here.
So far, good choice and recommendation on the plugs Gadget. And btw, I did not seem to have any seal or fitment problems with the boots using the new plugs. Not sure why TRD changed to the Platinum recommendation, but these plugs seem like they will be just fine. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />
More in a couple of days.
