I'm over due anyway. Speed tax comes about once a year. What gets me is we just talked about this at work too but my violation predates our conversation. Got a ticket in the mail today from Officer Kodak. Figured it was my daughter's when I saw Heath PD on the envelope because she frequents the area. I gave it to her to open in front of all her friends and she hands it back saying "looks like an FJ not a Del Sol to me"
Chaps my (not sure why) that a private company markets this system to the department at no cost to them and they split the profit. I give 'em props for an enterprising idea but giving the gubment free $$ on top of what they steal from us anyway?
Turn LEFT to go RIGHT
Thudump!....What was that daddy? Ran over a Honda, go back to sleep sweety.

I've never gotten a photo ticket, which I assume this is what this is. I would fight it as a matter of principle. You have to nothing to lose if you do. But sometimes, they dimiss the charges to avoid having deal with the issue all the way through the courts, since it may be constitutionally questionable.
At least I've heard of a few local cities in my state doing that on the red light camera tickets.
I personally think any kind of mechanically issued ticket is disgusting and violates so many legal and ethical principles, it's mind boggling. Why nobody stands up to this is beyond me.
In one of our towns, the local news media actually proved that the yellow light, ONLY, on the lights with red light cameras, was actually set to be shorter than all the other lights in the city. How do you like that?

Remember, South Carolina roads can be highways or dieways. It is your choice.
And Sober or Slammer.
They always play those commercials before a holiday.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

You all are lucky. The Commonwealth of Virginia has a much less subtle speed enforcement campaign. ![[Linked Image]](http://forthokie.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/funny-picture-speed-limit-enforced-by-aircraft-apache-attack-helicopter.jpg)

It's the clueless 16 year olds driving around causing accidents that has me worried. SC roads are Dieways, no choice about that. The amount of accidents here is sickening. And I always thought New Jersey drivers were bad.

And I always thought New Jersey drivers were bad. Don't worry, they are. I'm not sure if speed cameras are legal here, but they do have red light cameras at known problem intersections. I'm not in the habit of running red lights but I'd definitely fight that crap if I was ever ticketed. What does the prosecutor do when you contest the citation? Have the court take sworn testimony from an inanimate object?

When I worked in the photography lab at my local police HQ in the UK (I was a civilian) we used to process red light camera film. If someone wanted to fight the ticket, I had to go to court for the afternoon and basically testify that I was a part of the chain from the camera to film processing. The film was 35mm and they were able to show a positive image on a large TV screen from the negative with some video equipment. It was all BS but I got the afternoon off work and saw some funny cases being heard
Anyhow, on one occasion the story was that in the next case a guy who got a red light ticket claimed his car had been stolen and so it wasn't him. Well, in he comes featuring an afro When asked if he ran the red light he repeated 'no, my car was stolen' So they switch on the large TV showing the image of his car with all 4 wheels over the line and surprise, surprise there's a dude with an afro in the drivers seat
He paid the ticket and court costs That was the best one

Most red light camera tickets are a civil claim, not a criminal claim. They already thought of the live witness angle. I think I'm gonna mount a camera slave flash on my tag and see if I can wash out the image. May be tricky, as I think they use IR instead of visible light on their flash.

I have the utmost authority to tell you that a factory height 1999 Toyota Tacoma TRD with the tailgate down and cruising through Baltimore is 100% immune to red light cameras. At least it was 6 years ago. Maybe they've lowered the cameras?
