That is the same pic I pull up on google images without any problems. I've owned 2 ARB bumpers but never a Don's. I personally like the look of the ARB much better and I like the integrated winch mount. I plan to purchase one for my Gen I 2 door soon.

Are the Gen I ARB bumpers still available?

Still available, although the longer you wait, the longer the lead time, they may alreay be in a state of "made per order" and being that they are made in Austrailia...

Good companies, like ARB, will likely always be willing to make something like a bumber on a as needed basis. Bumpers and such dont require and molds to keep on hand so in reality, once the final CAD model has been made, they can make one at any time they choose. Now actually finding a company that operates like that is a whole different question. I had once planned of finding one of these for my '87 but it is quite out of my price range for a new one. Not saying they are not worth it as lots of people here can testify they are well worth it, I just cant afford one :-) Do a google search and you will find lots of companies that say they can get one. Next step is in calling them and seeing if they actually can.

EDIT:
Part number for a GEN 1 is 3434010 (81-88 global, 83-91 U.S.)

You will have to make a modification to the ARB to fit the USA 6 cylinder frames. The USA 6 cylinder frames are about an inch wider than the 4 cylinder frames. It's an easy job for a welding shop to widen the frame mounts on an ARB.

Since I know the front frame rails can be modified to accept a Jeep TJ bumper (w/out modifying the bumper) perhaps you can more easily fine an ARB bumper built for a jeep TJ (assuming ARB made one for the TJ)?

They did (although I really don't like the look of it). So are you running TJ bumpers on the front and back? The TJ is slightly wider than the Montero, so I am wondering how that works out with the bumper design.

I do suddenly find myself drooling over the prospect of putting this on the back:

So they are TJ bupers you say?

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

That's what the place I bought them from told me but I believe they fit any Wrangler from 87-06 based on Smittybilt's website. I believe they're patterned after the Smittybilt SRC bumpers.

FRONT BUMPER
The bumper remains unmodified. Frame Rails were modified to fit the bumper. Alternatively we could have built adapters but elected not to so we could also reinforce the frame ends.

REAR BUMPER PICS
This is kinda like the back bumper (w/out spare tire carrier). Like the front, the bumper remains unmodified.

Below is a picture of the mounting on one side. Unlike the front bumper, we built 2 adapters for each side to mount them. The actual frame rails essentially remain unmodified (we did trim the ends off to bring the bumper in closer to the body).

Let me know if you need any additional pictures. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
