"Consumers have spoken with their wallets, and they've said they like this program," said Rep. David Obey, D-Wis.

+1. It is not a tax deduction, it is a spending bill, giving a credit directly to the dealer. If they were going to do it (and I still hate this because I don't want to see nice older vehicles needlessly crushed), they should give all buyers a $10,000 tax deduction or something similar. This is just a spending bill. So now I have to pay for the destruction of cars I like?!?

How does that go? Writing checks that "our" (collective) asses can't cash? <cough nannystate <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" /> cough>

There is still time. The extension will be going in front of the senate in just a few days. Write your senators a letter/email and tell them you appose this program and any extensions/expansions.

Making your opinion known here is all good, but I don't know of any state senators that read the 4x4wire forums so we have to contact them directly so they know how we feel.
