My Montero in Maine is famous. It made it into the newspapers, after a fashion. The Working Waterfront is a local paper, along the lines of a trade paper. It's distributed along the central and DownEast coast of Maine.

This is a new series they are running about island cars. My Montero is the first of the series. Hopefully there will be many more.

You must understand, island cars are a world unto themselves. Most would never pass an inspection on the mainland, and nobody really cares. Most are not currently registered. This, of course, does not apply to islands with a regular car ferry service. All we're asked to do is pay the road tax portion of the registration fee, to help maintain the island roads.

The fuel tank mentioned in the article came from California. I bought it from Russell, as a rust-free tank, and shipped it to Maine.

And so, another Montero has it's brief moment in history.

Mods, it just dawned on me that I posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry. If you could move it over to the appropriate Montero forum I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

As far as i'm concerned, it's cool enough to hang out in the OT forum.

Hey, Trooper, do you know a Greg Phillips who lives around there. My cousin, married to Betsy, who owns a book store. Mid 50's, probably a sailor, carpenter, GC, boat builder/renovator.

Come on, now, Fasteddy. At least give me a hint what town they're in. ZabaSearch doesn't show a Greg Phillips and a Betsy Phillips in the same town.

That's kind of like asking whether you're familiar with my great-grandmother's headstone. She's buried in the Zebulon Road Cemetery in/near Barnesville GA.

The short answer to your question is that I'm not familiar with Greg Phillips. I need more information.

Can't 'member the town, but your island is in the middle of the old tidal power project area, right? So is he. They winter in Apalachicola, FL, where betsy has another book store. Can't miss him. Probably the only one there with a southern accent...

Oh, yeah, your g'g is the one with the rock headstone, right? I know it...

That was a cool story. I think everyone can appreciate a good Montero story....I'm biased though.
