Yes, water will cover the whole car. The whole entire car. I would think. I mean, if you submerse a car in water, it will sink. But if you have an intake system witch is better than stock, you might come out better than if you were stock. I'm not claiming to have found answeres to the univers, just maybe a new look on things.

I have no issue with the snorkel. It's a good idea if you plan on wheeling with mud/water.

I have a concern with the hood scoop. Did you cut a hole in the hood or is it just bolted on for "looks" and non-functional? If you did indeed make it functional you just potentially exposed the plugs/wires to get a bath which will stall out the engine.

Believe it or not a stock Sportage is quite capable to go thru VERY deep water for short distances. The hood forms an "air bubble" which for a short time protects the stock air intake and the ignition. A former member on here, whom I've met, used to wheel the Pine Barrens in NJ. He was always in deep water and never had a stall out. I took my Sportage down there one weekend to wheel with him. I hit one water trap where the water came completely up over the hood and splashed half-way up the windshield. It pulled right thru without a hitch. If I had that hood scoop it would have poured water all over the top of the engine and most likely have stalled it.

Ok, two inch is the diameter of the intake anyway. You can't resrict air more than stock, unless you go less than the stock two inch. It can be ten feet long, and not restrict any more also. And if your in water, over the hood, for more than like ten seconds, i personally can't belive that "air bubble" is still there. There is a two inch lip in front of the scoop, so i won't go more than one inch over the hood, just in case. Actually, i've never been over the grill. Just i had to take the snout that goes to the front of the car off, and i was getting water in. And i get better power, because, unlike all those under the hood cold air intakes, i'm actually getting cold, ambient air through the k&n, to the engine. Never ran better.
