What was the total cost for this project?

I'll have to get an idea of what the individual parts were. The pvc was from ace, so, whatever they charge for the 90's, and run 90's, and 45's. I'll try to make a list. Also. Has anyone ever looked at where the inner fenderwell has the gap between it and the frame? Because the bubble can only start between there, about mid engine allready, and the hood. That's for those of us with air proof radiators. I honestly think the top of the sportage motor kinda shields the plugs from alot of problems already. But hopefully i'll have more data this summer.

Your talking 4 bucks for 10 feet of pipe, which i didn't use half probably. From 1 to 2 bucks a fitting. Under 30 dollars for the whole thing. And i worked from the filter back. So no exact measuring. Cut and fit what works for you.

Nice Pics

Do you notice any restriction due to the length of tubing to draw air?

Well an air pocket works as long as there is not water moving around but if you are driving through it the pocket of air would not be there. Think of it like holding a metal brownie pan upside down under water. If you hold it still the air will keep the water out but if you slosh it around the air will be pushed out by the force of the water. The plugs however are the least of your worries. If you have put them in corectly the threads should seal them from being flooded by water. Its your alternator and distributor\coil packs, and on some trucks the ECU that would worry me. These have no protection and its not so much the water but the grime that comes with the water that will kill these parts. Or the vaccuum leaks that you might have would stall the engine and let water into the engine.

All in all, thats a great snorkle

Well put, and mostly agreed. But you're comparing an underhood envirement, with a sealed brownie pan. What under the hood of a car even comes close to a brownie pan? Nothing. You have a radiator, space between the hood and strip across top of radiator. fender well space cracks everywhere. That's not where i want to spend my last minuets gasping for air. Cause it won't be there.

And if you know how to snug a spark plug, that will be fine. If you have good plug wires, that will probably be fine, no garrenty. But how do you think some of these off road trucks go through water up to the windshield for 100 feet. Not with some imaginary air bubble.

Jaboo is right, our engine compartments are not air tight regardless of movement. Cowl is sealed but not to keep water out!

What I would like to know is ... if you need a functioning snorkel in the engine comp, where's the snorkel for the driver
