Would like to thank everyone for this info.

Here's what I found out while I got to change mine on the 2000 2dr Automatic.

You can do EVERYTHING from under the car except unhook the NEGATIVE and POSITIVE Battery Cables. (do negative FIRST)

budicexxx, the idea about using every extension in the neighborhood to get at the most difficult bolt was MOST helpful . One thing: If at all possible, don't remove the bolt from the bellhousing. That way you don't have to try and find an easy way to put it back in to start it .

Unplug the wire with the female spade lug to the solenoid and removed the 3 bolts. when the starter drops loose, rotate it around and remove the 12mm nut on the Positive wire from the battery to the solenoid.

Going back in, put the main positive wire on the solenoid, tighten it down and then position the starter back in the bellhousing.
Start the easier bolts into the threaded holes but leave them loose.
Now, use your 50 foot long gang of extensions and start the most difficult bolt and while your turning the bolt, you can move the starter slightly to align it with the bolt.

Tighten everything up, not forgetting that the bolt closest to you while your under the car has the ground cable attached to it!! (I wonder why that was written... )
Then hook up the wire with the female spade connection to the terminal on the solenoid.

Hook up the Main Positive cable to the battery, THEN hook up the negative cable and jump in and start it!!!

It should take about 3 cocktails not counting the time it takes to borrow every extension in the neighborhood.

Thanks again for this forum saving the day...all you have to do is search a little first and most answers are already posted.
