Ty it's possible. I'm trying to figure out where exactly we'll be. My thoughts currently are to make as much distance up on the 1st 2 days so that Monday there will be minimal trail time and maximum return trip time.

Once I figure out that itinerary, I'll post it up here. Hopefully in the next week or so.

Also, in case it wasn't clear, I have officially changed my mind on the route direction. Instead of west to east, it will be east to west.

Ray

Ty,
I have an idea where we might be staying the first night,(Caruthers Canyon), for you to meet us may be somewhat of a problem.
It's doable, so if you have the "Guide to Ca Backroads & 4-wheel drive trails" you can see on page 113 where this is.
You might be able to meet us at the camp site in Caruthers Canyon (the road dead ends there). Take I40 to Ivanpah Road, past Fenner Ca, and follow the road to Goffs and on to the camp area, but this all depend on our leader (Ray) I'm just the guide.

Here are some thoughts on where to stay,

Thursday/Friday night, AVI Casino.

Leave Casino around 8:00 o'clock. There's gas and food at the Casino area, but it's cheaper down the road in AZ.

Saturday night, Caruthers Canyon, don't tell Les.

Sunday night, Little Cowhole Mountain area, before Soda dry lake.

Monday night, Afton Canyon Camp Ground for those of us staying.

These are about 5-6 hour drives each day of course you can do them much faster.

Just 'cause from what I've read and been told by numerous people who have wheeled it, it's a wide enough expanse that the chances of being in each others way are slim to none. Also pretty much EVERY guide book & all online articles/write-up's I've read are written from East to West. If I had done this trail numerous times, and felt comfortable enough I'd have done it in the other direction for the fun of it.

That's 8AM for those who need a wake-up call.

Hey, any good leader relies on knowledgeable folks who have 'been there, done that'.

That accommodation info looks good although I'm not sure I'm gonna like staying in a little cow hole area on Sunday night... but I digress.

I'd like it if the N.Cal drivers can meet at a logical N.Cal locale & the S.Cal drivers can meet at a common S.Cal locale.

Then both groups can meet at a common locale somewhere along the drive to the trailhead... wherever the trailhead will

Ray,
Any idea where the NorCal meeting point will be? and what time, presumably Friday?
If possible I'd like to caravan.

Thanks.

Not sure yet. I'm thinking we can all meet up somewhere south of where 152 meets 5.

Myself, I'll either be leaving from Lathrop or San Jose... haven't decided for sure yet.
