Ray, I (with my wife) probably will join the group. I may bring somebody else, too.

I just need to install the CB radio.

I am a little bit lost in dates and places. May be, a "sticky" message with the trip information would be a good idea ?

Oleg,

Nice development. You're fiance won't mind?

The dates are October 10-12. We will be going east to west. I changed the dates because there was another large group going on the original date and it worked for most all parties at the time.

We changed directions because EVERY review of the trail I could find was going from east to west. Plus at the end of the trip (when everyone is tired), I think we would all prefer a shorter drive home.

Time to update my upcoming flier

OK, just submitted the "use permit" since we have over 7 vehicles/15 participants.

As I've already alluded to it cost me $50 to do that so I'll be collecting $3 from each of you on the trip or maybe you can all chip in to fill my tanks in Barstow on Monday.

I think you're having a moment RainMan. Did you skip your Medication?

Did you forget my earlier post?

I'm not paying. It's part of my Social Security benefit package you're paying.

Ray, do you have the exact places where the group is going to stay in the night, in the case if we will join later (Saturday night) ? As far as I understand, you are going the exact route as described in the book "Mojave Road Guide", right ?

Good question for the Grasscat. Both you and Ty's group are coming on Saturday afternoon/evening.

Another interesting development I learned today from the Ranger. It's the first weekend of Deer Hunting Season so there will be alot more hunters than normal that weekend.

Also Michael, we need to have a couple of backup camp sites in case the site's we'll be at are full. Caruthers canyon will likely be full or near full that weekend.

Ray, I was on this road, and in Caruthers in particular, two times in the middle of October. I remember I saw a few hunters in Caruthers. Both times Caruthers was rather empty. There were some people, but there was plenty of place. Caruthers is a large area with dispersed camping places.

I am not a hunter, but from my prospective, if I'd hunt deers, Mojave would be probably the last place around where I would go. I do not remember any deers in Mojave. You can find plenty of coyotes, small rodents and tarantulas in Mojave but that's basically it.

I suppose that most hunters will be camping in organized campgrounds. I was camping in Mid Hills campground (about 1.5 hours drive from Caruthers) and it was filled may be only 30% of its capacity.

I think that Caruthers is a safe place to set the meeting place.

I agree, it's a large area, but I'll look for a backup.
