I am SOOOOO looking forward to a chance to sleep under the stars.... FYI: mid-October night temperatures in Mojave are freezing. Take it into account when planning your night sleep.

OK, in case you haven't already please send me your contact details. Specifically I'll need your real name, 4x4wire name, email addresses and cell numbers for all the drivers so I can complete a trip FAQ / contact info flier and email it to each of you by the end of this weekend.
This way if any driver is lost we'll all have their contact details.
Please include what comms you have (FRS/GMRS, CB, or Ham/2M + call sign) so I know how we can reach you if we get separated on the trail.

Ray: are you driving down 99 when you head out? My wife said I could go (but I'm still not sure it's a good idea )

Clay, good thing we had spoken earlier about the possiblity you might find a way to go before I posted that I'm closing down the trip to any additional rigs. I had already penciled you into my list of rigs. Will it just be you or is anyone else coming in a separate vehicle? Sorry but any additional rigs (besides yours) would not be welcome at this time simply because the group size is getting very large.
As for the itinerary, I'll be leaving Santa Clara (Starbucks on Montague & Mission College Blvd) Friday evening with whomever else wants to caravan. Will decide the time once I know who else will caravan w/ me and what time they will be ready.
The first part of the route will be 101 S, 152 E, I-5 S, etc. At some point we cross do over to 99 and continue south. I don't recall exactly where because I don't have the full directions here at work. I can post that later. Are you pretty definite on coming?

I wouldn't be taking my rig. I'd be riding along. I don't have the available funds to register and smog my truck, and it will be impounded if it's found on the road.
Probably won't work anyway. Seems a little foolish to go run around in the desert when I don't have a job.

A run in the Desert is fine w/out a job so long as you're not spending $$$. Perhaps someone can swing buy your place on their way down? I'm coming from the Bay on this trip so I won't be in that area unfortunately.
If I were leaving from Lathrop it would have been easily doable.

Ray: are you driving down 99 when you head out? My wife said I could go (but I'm still not sure it's a good idea ) Did I not just read where you have that H1N1 stuff? If so, wear one of those hazmat suits, if you decided to come.
