Getting the Wheeling Fever

My transmission shifts just fine, but my transfer case shifter is very sloppy. Is there a similar fix for the transfer case shifter? I've always been able to make it work, but sometimes I feel lucky when I get it back in 2 wheel drive. My truck is an 88 22RE. TIA, Roy
