Today was rather mild in weather for Texas like 95f.....So I reluctantly made the effort to re-examine all the lines. I took off the intake and disconnected the charcoal box too. I happened to notice the clamp off........... on on line (closest to the radiator) from the charcoal box, but the tube seemed to be able to move easily with my hand.
I figured since I was on a roll I would dis-assemble the rest (intake also)for a thorough inspection. All the other lines were fine.
I then went (in another vehicle) to Advance Auto and ask for a pressure vacuum gauge....They looked at me like I was nuts. I commenced to fill them in on what was going on and the manager swaid that a faulty spark plug could cause p0171 as well as starting issues......
Fine. I bought 4 autolite dual spark plugs, gassket sealer, anti-seize and the electrical grease stuff for the top connectors of the spark plugs.
I took out the spark plug in bank 1 and it was dry but very very burnt on the plastic area and very gray in color on the spark side with obvious wear. The same for the other 3 but at least the gaps were still .44
After re-assembly (and battery re-connection) I also sealed off the air temp sensor on the rubber top of the K&N with gasket sealer vs. using Teflon tape for the threads.
Aside from struggling with the car alarm.......It Started Up Very Very nicely and idled extremely well.
Took it for a test drive for about 50 miles it ran excellent and guess what?????????????
NO CODES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check ur freakin' spark plugs!
Thanks Ya'll for all of ur help.<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
Could have prevented buying a new o2 sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, starter, Idle controller, new battery ect......
But I prolly needed to get those in anyway sometime down the road (pun intended)! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
Thanks again.
